ServerWatcher can notify you
of a downed server by e-mail, AIM, or Yahoo Messenger.
To add a new notification method just switch to the Notifications tab and click the appropriate icon.
Then enter the e-mail address or messenger username you want to be notified at.
So you know who to expect message from, on AIM you will receive notifications from myServerWatcher. On Yahoo Messenger you will receive them from serverwatcher
To delete a notification method select it and click Delete Selected.
Each notification method is further associated with a specific server. When you create a new server it automatically defaults to sending alerts to all the recepients available at the time of it's creation. To choose which recepients a server sends its notices to go to the Servers tab, select the server you want to modify, and click the magnifying glass. Then select the recepients you want to be notified about that server and click "Update". Please Note that new notification methods will not be added to existing servers automatically. You have to edit the server's settings to add it in.
In addition to specifying recepients on a per server basis you can globally enable and disable notifications by clicking the "Globally On" button in the Notifications tab which will turn into "Globally Off". The text of the button always displays the current state and should be matched by a red or green icon in the tab, once you've added some people to be notified.
SMS notifications
Almost every cell phone company will let you send e-mails to your cell phone. They usually truncate
them at about 160 characters but that's enough for ServerWatcher to let you know what's going on.
